Chase Claypool Tearing up the NFL
• Chase Claypool! Mr. Speaker, until recently, most Canadians had never heard of Chase Claypool.
• But eight months ago, Chase was drafted into the National Football League by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
• In September, in his second game as a professional, the rookie wide receiver had three receptions against the Denver Broncos, including an 84-yard passing touchdown. That’s the longest TD from scrimmage in league history by a Canadian.
• Two weeks later, in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Chase scored 4 more touchdowns, another record. Since then, he has continued to tear up the league.
• Claypool played high school football for the Abbotsford Panthers, before playing college ball at Notre Dame.
• Chase joins PGA golf champions Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin, former World Cup soccer player, Sophie Schmidt, Vancouver Canuck Jake Virtanen, and many other local athletes in reaffirming Abbotsford’s reputation as a hotbed of athletic talent. Congratulations, Chase!
